Over 400 people involved in the preparation and execution of the 15th Hill Climb Limanowa Race – Mountain pass at Ostra have completed their preparations for the race, which begins on Saturday morning. All necessary infrastructure has been set up, including track safety measures, communication systems, the stage for awarding the winners, and judges’ stations along the course. Of the 115 registered drivers, 112 will be at the starting line at 9:00 AM on Saturday. Among them are all the leaders of the FIA EHC – FIA European Hill Climb Championship and the Polish Hill Climb Championship. For the FIA EHC drivers, Saturday’s runs will be practice, while Polish drivers will compete in the 9th round of GSMP.

Will it be possible to break the course record of 1.48.841 set in 2021 by Christian Merli (ITA), who will start with the number 1 Osella FA 30 Judd LRM? Considering the strong competition, especially from the leader of the FIA EHC this season, Frenchman Geoffrey Shatz (Nova
Proto NP 01). Much depends on… the weather. Polish fans will be focused on the competition in Category 1, where Polish drivers are the fastest in Europe. In the strongest cars, GSMP leader Grzegorz Rożalski (Mitsubishi Lancer) and last year’s Polish Champion Waldemar Kluza (Mitsubishi Lancer), who is not competing this season, will face off against the FIA EHC team duo Szymon Piękos (Mitsubishi Lancer) and Karol Krupa (Skoda Fabia), as well as other Polish drivers in powerful Lancers – Robert Sługocki, Sebastian Stec, and Michał Ratajczyk. They face strong foreign competition; five foreign cars will appear in the strongest group 1, driven by Igor Stefanovski (MKD, Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO), Domagoj Perekovič (HRV, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX), Pavel Kotek (CZE, BMW M3), Liridion Kalenderi (KOS, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX), and returning to Poland after years, Nikolay Zlatkov (AUT, Audi Quattro Pikes Peak). Attention should also be given to the well-prepared black-and-yellow Porsche 997 GT3 R of Nicolas Werver (FRA), one of the fastest drivers in the European field over the last five years, currently second in Category 1 after six rounds. Of course, in Limanowa, we will also see the current category leader, Matija Jurišić from Croatia, in his racing version of the Peugeot 308 TCR 1.6.

For the preparation of the national road K 1609 Limanowa – Kamienica for the race, 50 kilometers of tape were used to mark off dangerous, inaccessible areas for spectators. Existing double crash barriers were supplemented with additional barriers, amounting to 7.5 kilometers in total. All this is set up over 5493 meters of the race course. Several specialized medical teams will oversee the safety of the competitors and spectators, and a temporary field hospital has been established. This security system serves not only the competitors but also the tens of thousands of spectators who come to the race on a July weekend. The organization of the event is also supported by volunteer firefighters from local fire brigades. The support of local – county and municipal governments is also essential:

Mieczysław Uryga, Starosta Limanowa: The extraordinary atmosphere during the event would not be possible without the efforts and work of the entire team of Auto Moto Klub Limanowa, volunteers, as well as the support of sponsors and partners. The excellent organization of the event and the preparation of the track are appreciated by the driver and fan community, as well as in national and international media. The residents of our county, especially those in Stara Wieś and the surrounding areas, also deserve recognition and distinction for their hospitality and understanding of the necessary restrictions to properly conduct the three-day event. All these factors determine the level and reputation of the race and its value for the development and promotion of our region.

The results of the competition can be followed live on the website www.wyniki-online.pl and the

race can be listened to on Race Radio at 90.8 FM.
