The provisional entry list released by Auto Moto Klub Limanowa for the 7th Round of the FIA EHC
(European Hill Climb Championship) shows the immense sporting excitement awaiting fans at the 15th Hill Climb Limanowa – Mountain pass at Ostra. Such a strong stake has never been seen in Limanowa.
On the 5493-meter course starting in Stara Wieś, the leaders of the general classification in Category 2 (racing cars), who have been in a close-run thing since the beginning of the season, will face off: debuting in Poland Geoffrey Schatz (FRA) with his NOVA Proto NP01 (who has won this year’s ECCE HOMO race in the Czech Republic), having amassed 150 points, and Christian Merli (ITA), driver of the Osella FA 30 Judd LRM, a multiple European Champion and track record holder, trailing the Frenchman by 25 points. The competition between Joseba Iraola Lanzagorta (ESP, Nova NP01) and regular podium finishers in Limanowa: Petr Trnka from the Czech Republic (Norma M20 FC) and Alexander Hin (DEU, Osella FA 30) also promises to be exciting.
The entries in Category 2 – closed-body cars are equally impressive. The entries in Category 2 – closed-body cars are equally impressive. Szymon Piękoś (POL, Mitsubishi Lancer), who has competed in almost the entire FIA EHC season, will not have an easy task: he must face Europe’s strongest cars, driven by Waldemar Kluza (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO V AMS), Grzegorz Rożalski (Mitsubishi Lancer AMS), Michał Ratajczyk (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X 7 Motors) and foreign competitors such as Domagoj Pereković (HRV, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX), Liridon Kalenderi (KOS) in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX prepared and serviced in Poland, and the experienced champion Igor Stefanovski (MKD), the 2023 European Champion, who is racing this year in a Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO. After many years, Nikolay Zlatkov (AUT) will return to Poland, intending to recall the beautiful Audi Quattro Pikes Peak.
Among the mentioned drivers, a formidable opponent will undoubtedly be the Frenchman Nicolas Werver in a Porsche 997 GT3R, currently holding second place in the overall standings of Category 1 FIA EHC. He is one of the fastest drivers in the category and secured the European vice-championship last season.
In Group 2 classification, Werver will compete with Karol Krupa (POL, Skoda Fabia CT), the second
Polish driver competing for points throughout the FIA EHC season, and Antonino Migliuolo (ITA,
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX), who has already stood on the podium in Limanowa and always praised the
track in Beskid Wyspowy.
