The last weekend of July (July 29 – July 31) will be marked by great sports emotions. The 13th Limanowa Hill-Climb Race – Ostra Mountain Pass, which is the 6th Round of the FIA EHC – the FIA European Hill-Climb Championship, will be held in Limanowa. The fastest drivers of the old continent have announced their participation, and they will be fighting for points in this most prestigious hill-climb racing series at the halfway point of a balanced season.
Their participation was announced, among others Christian Merli (ITA, Osella FA 30), three-time European Champion, who won all previous FIA EHC rounds in Category 2 this season. At the start in Stara Wieś there will also be the discovery of this season, the German Alexander Hin (Osella FA 30), who will definitely want to catch up with Petr Trnka (CZE, Norma M 20 FC), who is second in the general classification of 1st Category.
Fans will also have the opportunity to watch the fascinating duel of the leader of Kat. 1 Vasilije Jaksica from Macedonia (Mitsubishi Lancer EVI IX) with the fastest driver in three rounds in the 2nd Category (closed body cars) Karl Schagler (AUT), who has a powerful Volkswagen Golf. Antonino Migliuolo (ITA, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX), third in the classification, will also be present.
The partial, provisional list of applications for the Polish round of the European Championships includes Waldemar Kluza (POL), who pauses this season, who brings to Limanowa the well-known from starts Szymon Łukaszczyk Mitsubishi Lancer – the most powerful car (over 1000 KM) in the Cat 1 rate. Another return Sebastian Fołta, who had not been seen for a long time, also announced the big racing. He showed his new weapon during the race in Korczyn in May – the Lola T96 / 50 car.
The 6th FIA EHC round will be another part of the rivalry between two Poles leading in Group 5. Piotr Ilnicki (POL, Honda Civic), the competitor of Limanowa Auto Moto Club (POL, Honda Civic) will try to compensate for the 13-point loss to Maciej Serafin (POL, Renault Clio). Gabriel Głazowski (POL, Volkswagen Scirocco R) will make his debut in this year’s championship.
To date, AMK Limanowa has received 26 applications for the FIA EHC, the deadline is July 20.
The 9th and 10th Round of the Polish Hill-Climb Championships will also be held during the 13th Limanowa Hill-Climb Race – Ostra Mountain Pass. In total, the organizers estimate that over 100 competitors will take part in the race, and the border of Gorce and Beskid Wyspowy will be visited by over 30,000 fans.
The route of the race is 5493 meters long, its record holder, with a time of 1: 49.841 is Christian Merli.
